Messaging Services are the core business at SWIFT that carry the world’s financial messages securely and reliably. They provide messaging platforms with message exchange, validation, tracking of transactions, translation and network connectivity supporting the global financial industry.
As a Developer/Systems Engineer you will be working closely in line with team objectives, policies and procedures and under guidance of a more senior team member, to design, develop specifications, code, install, test and maintain high quality application software and associated tools.
As a Developer/Systems Engineer you will:
Design, develop, test, install and support programs/systems in line with agreed requirements.
Assist with the analysis of requirements and the development of recommendations as to the systems approach to follow.
Prepare specifications, codes, tests, deliverables, acceptance criteria, time frames, etc. and prepare and study the technical feasibility and estimates of the proposed systems solutions.
Analyze the problems, develop and propose solutions to more senior team members.
Provide technical assistance to other SWIFT colleagues and provide guidance to more junior team members in their daily work.
Develop and maintain technical documentation and prepare and give presentations to customers on systems.
Provide timing/scheduling estimates to project lead and propose corrective actions to timelines when necessary.

Experience &
Education 5+ years of experience in software development.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
Required Technical skills & knowledge:
Strong background in OO programming, Design patterns using Java or C++Experience working with relational databases.
Experience of applications/ databases on Linux (RHEL) / Unix (HP-UX) systems.
Good understanding and hands on experience of scripting including KSH, Python, Perl.
Preferred:
Software development environments and tools:
Bitbucket, Integrated Development Environment (Eclipse, Intellij), Maven, Git.
Conversant with agile methodologies and tools such as Jenkins, JIRA, confluence.
Autonomous, driven, with strong ability to quickly adapt and respond to change.
Open-minded, solutions oriented, and a true team player – gaining energy through collaboration with others.
