Job Description:
Platform Engineering Architect:
What you will be doing:
A platform engineering Architect will meet with business units at various stages of the cloud native journey and will identify key value opportunities within those groups to accelerate adoption. This position will not be working towards perfection, it will be working towards help implementing a golden path for the business unit to enable them. Following engagements with groups lessons learned, tooling, and workflows designed / implemented will be generalized and added to our catalog of self-service resources for developer teams. Solutions built as part of engagements should be able to operate with minimal support from platform engineering resources outside of feature requests and bug fixes. The position is responsible for engaging with backend platform developers and support teams to ensure services are consumed in expected and supportable manners as part of the design and implementation of workflows.

Establishes architecture strategy and engages with business leaders to align architecture strategy with the organization’s priorities. Researches and identifies required architecture components and/or frameworks that may span multiple products or areas of technology. Develops white papers on the most complex, functional architectural principles that have the highest impact and risk exposure to the organization. Provides technical expertise on multiple areas of underlying technologies, platforms, and subject matter relating to product or infrastructure architecture. Gathers and analyzes technical and industry-related trends and evaluates technological advances and various third-party products and tools. Ensures current technical assets are leveraged and sets the architectural direction of future product offerings. Creates models and conducts feasibility, cost/benefit, and risk analyses to make recommendations that support long-term product maintainability, reliability, and scalability, while attempting to achieve and promote business objectives. Leads cross functional project teams. Viewed as a technical leader and is sought out as the primary escalation point for the most complex architectural-related issues or decisions. Recognized within the organization as a functional expert with specialized depth and/or breadth of knowledge. Works independently, with guidance only in the most complex situations. Solves complex problems; identifies new solutions using a broad perspective and understanding. Leads large scale projects with substantial resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. May lead a project team with influence over contribution of others. Translates functional vision into plans and guides their execution.
