SUMMARY

The Cloud Computing Network Engineer provides Cloud Connectivity support to design, define and develop custom modules, features, and package integration from proposal to product Document features, modules, requirements, and the risks of each Cloud based initiative

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following:
• Configure NOAA AWS Transit Gateway (TGW) with onboarding, scaling, and supporting the virtual networking infrastructure
• Create VPCs and associated subnets for onboarded labs/accounts
• Responsible for providing centralized configuration for routing and security
• Responsible for providing connectivity support and troubleshooting for labs/programs using the TGW service
• Configure site-to-site VPN connections from the TGW to OAR Labs (There are 10 total NOAA OAR laboratories and HQ)
• Document and track connections, IP address usage/allocation and following OAR change control procedures
• Partner with NOAA’s NWAVE team to scale the connection up as necessary
• Report TGW usage, support tracking, reliability/performance history and general status to NOAA OAR leadership as part of the monthly report deliverable

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

This position requires no supervisory/management authority

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s (BS) Degree in Computer Science or related to Engineering/Research field
• 6-8 years of Cloud automation experience (eg, infrastructure/technical, solution/application, information/data, security/provisioning, or enterprise/business process automation)
• 5 years of experience migrating on-prem to public cloud (preferable AWS)
• Experience with leading AWS Migration Readiness and Planning (MRP) engagements
• Extensive experience with AWS frameworks like AWS Cloud Adoption Framework and AWS Well-Architected Framework
• Extensive software development experience and thorough knowledge of a variety of programming languages and logic
• Certification: AWS DevOps – Professional
• Experience with Google Cloud Professional Cloud Network Engineer
• Experience with Hybrid deployments – physical and virtual machines (both on-prem and cloud)
• Working knowledge in Cloud deployments – AWS
• Knowledge of Cloud and on-premise data center networking infrastructure
• Knowledge of cloud Gateways, firewalls, routing
• Knowledge of Cloud access points

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Due to COVID the work will be performed 100% remote

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $170,000 – $190,000 annually
