At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Senior Network Security Engineer supporting various customers, you will be trusted to Maintain and enhance security posture by enforcing security requirements as specified by client/contract. This role will be worked remotely.

In this role, a typical day will include the responsibilities below:
• Maintain and enhance security posture by enforcing security requirements as specified by client/contract
• Ensure requirements are being met for NIST 800-53, HIPAA, IRS, DISA, etc.
• Manage network and host-based firewalls using several different platforms (Cisco, Palo Alto, McAfee).
• Manage network IDS/IPS solutions on multiple platforms (McAfee).
• Understanding and experiencing with SIEM platforms (ArcSight, Splunk).
• Able to perform firewall rule audits/reviews independently. Team assistance is available if needed.
• Provide technical expertise in analysis and resolution of issues to maximize system availability and meet both internal and contractual Service Levels
• Maintain knowledge of technologies, including new technology developments.
• Provide technical assistance to clients in a professional and accommodating manner.
• Take a leadership role on moderately complex projects independently or as part of a larger project team.
• Handle multiple competing initiatives and escalate issues effectively.
• Possess the drive to learn new technologies.

Required qualifications:
• BA/BS or equivalent years of experience
• 5+ years of experience with network devices
• Experience with load balancing technologies, network monitoring tools, vulnerability management processes, compliance management processes, and device hardening techniques/methods.
• Basic knowledge of Network Access Controls (NAC), Radius, and TACACS solutions such as Cisco ISE.
• Ability to be proactive, decisive, and action-oriented
• Advanced ability to multi-task, to be self-initiated, and work independently
• Excellent organizational, research, analytical and/or problem-solving skills to evaluate situations, make recommendations, and take effective action
• Knowledge and skill in technical problem resolution
• Strong time management skills
• Strong communication skills

Preferred qualifications:
• Any network engineering certifications (CCNA, Network+, etc.)
• Any cybersecurity certifications (CISSP, Security+, etc.)
