Description

We are searching for a talented AWS Cloud Architect to help lead the architecture and development of our AWS Cloud environment. You will play a strategic role in architecting, securing, and aiding in the development of all cloud systems including the front-end platforms, servers, storage, and management networks.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of cloud computing and technology systems, as well as experience designing, transferring, and securing applications to the cloud. You should have a positive attitude and excellent communication skills to effectively share your knowledge across all levels of the organization.

Cloud Architecture and Design and Engineering
• Demonstrate knowledge of AWS cloud architecture and implementation features with a focus on security (OS, multi-tenancy, virtualization, orchestration, elastic scalability).
• Demonstrate knowledge of DevOps tool chains and processes.
• Build and design Infrastructure as Code for AWS tenant.
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to the organization for cloud architecture, including AWS, and potential future providers, security, networking, provisioning, and management.
• Work with IT peers to help develop a library of documented and deployable templates.
• Demonstrate leadership ability to articulate design decisions backed by research and provide options, the pros and cons for each, and a recommendation with the “why”.
• Maintain overall industry knowledge on latest trends, technology, etc.
• Develop solutions architecture and evaluate architectural alternatives for private, public and hybrid cloud models, including IaaS, PaaS, and other cloud services.
• Contribute to DevOps development activities and complex development tasks
• Define optimal design patterns and solutions for high availability and disaster recovery for applications.

Consultation

Drive scope definition, requirements analysis, secure functional and technical design, application build, product configuration, unit testing, and production deployment.
• Ensure delivered solutions meet/perform to technical and functional requirements.
• Provide technical expertise and ownership in the diagnosis and resolution of issues, including the determination and provision of workaround solution or escalation to service owners.
• Ensure delivered solutions are realized in time frame committed; work in conjunction with project sponsors to size and manage scope and risk.
• Provide support and technical governance and expertise related to cloud architectures, security, deployment, and operations.

Thought Leadership
• Provide thought leadership in industry and to fellow team members across business and technical project dimensions solving complex business requirements.
• Demonstrate forward thinking around where the organization is going and how technology can support these efforts.
• Advocate and define cloud architecture vision from a strategic perspective, including internal and external platforms, security, tools, and systems.

Mentoring
• Act as the coach and mentor to team members and technical staff on their assigned project tasks.
• Help identify areas of need with regard to cloud technology staff training.
• Lead the definition and development of cloud reference architecture and management systems.

Qualifications/Requirements:
• 6 + years of IT experience spanning at least two disciplines, including technical architecture, network management, application development, security, database management or operations.
• Experience with AWS cloud technologies.
• Knowledge of all components of a technical IT architecture, as well as business principles and processes.
• Strong understanding of network architecture, SOA, APIs, identity, and application development methodologies.
• Positive attitude and a strong commitment to delivering quality work.
• Excellent knowledge of cloud computing technologies and current computing trends.
• Effective communication skills (written and verbal) to properly articulate complicated cloud reports to management and other IT development partners.
• CCSK (Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge), CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional) or CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) preferred.
• AWS Solutions Architect (Associated or Professional) preferred.
