We are recruiting to hire an experienced Software Release and Deployment Engineer with a strong track record of coordinating Production Deployments and improving release processes. The Enterprise Middleware & Online Security Technology (EMOST) group champions innovative and scalable technology solutions to deliver a superior client communication experience, through multiple delivery channels. Some of our software products include multi channel online authentication, third party api integration, and messaging middleware. In this position, you will manage and mature our release and deployment processes. Your responsibilities will include ensuring our release governance is applied, communicating release status to external stakeholders, coordinating with Product Management on internal and external communication, and improving our overall development and deployment pipeline.
What you are good at

You will be responsible for implementing and managing the release management process for EMOST and driving towards a DevOps culture. You will maintain and improve EMOST release and deployment process, identify and manage release dependencies within EMOST and/or outside of EMOST, implement a release schedule for EMOST, and communicate release status to stakeholders. The Release Manager will be a liaison to Change Management team and will collaborate with all members of the software development team to ensure change management policies are enforced. We’re looking for technology leaders who are enthusiastic about working across different organizations to streamline Production Releases for a Department consisting of multiple lines of businesses and increasing efficiency with process improvements. The role will require a high level of responsibility yet has a support structure necessary for development growth.

The role will focus on the following areas:

• Planning – Coordination across multiple organizations, adhering to release schedule and business alignment. Establishing a release cadence for EMOST.
• Risk Assessment – Code freeze processes, scope, quality and review sessions.
• Executing – Release coordination, release tactics and issue management.
• Measuring – Establish, mature and automate release metrics.
• Process Improvement/Automation – Tools improvement, process automation and innovation.
• Education – Constant education for stakeholders and engineers.
• Mentoring – Mentor and coach team members.
What you have

• 8+ years working in an enterprise software organization.
• 6 – 8 years demonstrated real world experience with Release Management discipline and processes.
• Experience with Agile & SAFe (or other scaling frameworks), working with Agile teams and leveraging Agile tools in order to accomplish Release Management goals.
• Strong problem solving and the ability to partner with Product Owners, Software Application engineers, Release Engineers and other engineers across an organization.
• Experience mentoring and guiding engineers around Release Management best practices.
• Excellent facilitation, organization and collaboration skills.
• Excellent team player with the ability to influence and negotiate.
• Ability to manage risk and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule, and quality.
• Desire to dig deeper into how releases are managed in a PaaS, SaaS and Cloud based solution.
• Experience in driving release process improvements and release automation.
Required Skills:
• Experience with tools such as JIRA and Confluence for Release Management activities, such as: metrics gathering, managing a release train across multiple departments
• Exposure with automation efforts of several aspects of software development; for example: automate build process upon code check-in, automate deployment, and configuring artifacts repository (ie. experience setting up a continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline using tools like Jenkins or Bamboo).
• Experience and working knowledge of implementing Blue-Green deployments to reduce downtime and risk.
• Experience and working knowledge of PCF – Pivotal Cloud Foundry.
• Experience working with source code repositories (i.e. GIT, Bitbucket)
• Project Management experience using Scrum or Kanban

The Release IT Integrated Release Manager will provide execution leadership throughout the lifecycle of Information Technologies projects supporting IT Integration into UHG/Optum for Business Partners. The RM will be actively involved in understanding requirements and solution design for integration projects to allow for successful implementation of solution delivery during the US-night time. Key aspects of managing the implementation execution are troubleshooting, collaboration, issue resolution and proactive communication updates. Will receive input, guidance and direction from off shore OGA/OGS.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Work directly with EEPS Customer Relationship & Implementation Services staff – from technical to executive level – to execute deployment timelines supporting implementation lifecycle across global teams
• Provide execution leadership tied to infrastructure for internal systems and delivering solutions to customers
• Plan and partner with Integration Lead (IL) on project deployment timelines and working closely with global project teams
• Provide concise written communication of deployment status and issues, with regular updates to resolution for visibility and transparency
• Establish and maintain strong relationship with internal & external customers and 3rd party vendors across global teams
• Understand project value and impact, aligning to the program and project goals
• Drive best-practices and documentation in support of repeatable processes

• Coordinator between Optum Tech and Optum care locations data centers and sites/clinics
• Create Cutover sheet step by step instructions guide
• Must juggle 3-4 projects at a time
• Microsoft Office Excel, Word, SharePoint, MS Teams, Smartsheet
• Experience with MS Teams calls between groups and off shore staff at times
• Attend and guide meetings during each step/phase of cutover
