The vision of the Machine Learning (ML) Engineering team at Disney is to drive and enable ML usage across several domains in heterogeneous language environments and at all stages of a project’s life cycle, including ad-hoc exploration, preparing training data, model development, and robust production deployment. The team is invested in continual innovation on the ML infrastructure itself to carefully orchestrate a continuous cycle of learning, inference, and observation while also maintaining high system availability and reliability. We’re looking for a principal software engineer interested in building optimized, efficient and reliable products, services and interfaces to federate access to data stores, simplify, automate and manage the ML development and deployment ecosystem. In addition, the ideal candidate would be excited about partnering with various data science, analytic and experimentation teams to gather requirements, seek feedback, and focus on continuous development and improvement of the ML infrastructure.

Responsibilities:
• Design and develop infrastructure for the full cycle of machine learning such as workflow management, feature store, data discovery tools, and feature libraries.
• Implement backend microservices for large scale distributed systems using gRPC or REST.

Basic Qualifications:
• 10+ years of software experience working in large scale, real-time distributed systems

Principal Software Engineer (ML Platform)

The vision of the Machine Learning (ML) Engineering team at Disney is to drive and enable ML usage across several domains in heterogeneous language environments and at all stages of a project’s life cycle, including ad-hoc exploration, preparing training data, model development, and robust production deployment. The team is invested in continual innovation on the ML infrastructure itself to carefully orchestrate a continuous cycle of learning, inference, and observation while also maintaining high system availability and reliability. We seek to find new ways to scale with our guest and partner base as well as the ever-growing need for ML and experiments.

We’re looking for a Principal Software Engineer interested in building optimized, efficient and reliable products, services and interfaces to federate access to data stores, simplify, automate and manage the ML development and deployment ecosystem. In addition, the ideal candidate would be excited about partnering with various data science, analytic and experimentation teams to gather requirements, seek feedback, and focus on continuous development and improvement of the ML infrastructure.

Responsibilities:
• Design and develop infrastructure for the full cycle of machine learning such as workflow management, feature service, model runtime, data discovery tools, and feature libraries.
• Implement backend microservices for large scale distributed systems using gRPC or REST.
• Work on complex, cross-functional projects that have a broad impact on the business.
• Maintain a culture of quality, innovation and experimentation
• Work in an Agile environment that focuses on collaboration and teamwork

Basic Qualifications:
• 10+ years of software experience working in large scale, real-time distributed systems
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent work experience
• Experienced with cloud technologies in AWS or GCP as well as container systems such as Docker or Kubernetes
• Passion for turning ideas into products and improving the member experience
• Expertise in OO programming, either Python or Java
• Excellent communication and people engagement skills

Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with ML pipelines and AWS technologies
• Experience with graph-based data workflows such as Apache Airflow, Meson
• Mentor colleagues on best practices and technical concepts of building large scale solutions

Additional Information:

Location: San Francisco, CA, New York, NY or Seattle, WA preferred but also open to US Remote for the right candidate

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $156,374 to $209,770 per year, however, base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.

Senior Manager, Machine Learning Engineering at System1

System1 is looking for an experienced engineer to join our team as a Senior Manager of Machine Learning Engineering. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a talented team of ML engineers as well as contributing significant individual contributor work towards architecting and building MLOps capabilities and infrastructure abstractions that will accelerate development speed of new cutting-edge machine learning models that power our large scale marketing platform and support them throughout the entire machine learning model production lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will not only have experience leading a team, either as a people manager or technical lead, but also be an expert software engineer with previous experience developing tooling to support the building, training, testing and deployment of machine learning models.

The Role You Will Have
• Lead and work alongside a small team leveraging state-of-the-art tools and frameworks to build MLOps capabilities that enable/support the full ML model production lifecycle (data transformation/preparation, model training & development, model validation, model serving, model monitoring)
• Build scalable and efficient distributed ML pipelines that enable training and serving of large-scale cutting-edge machine learning models
• Develop systems, tools, & processes to govern ML models for compliance, bias, versioning, traceability, and audit-ability
• Work collaboratively with data scientists to accelerate ML model development and deployment
• Evaluate, recommend, and perform proof-of-concepts for new ML model lifecycle management services
• Take projects through the full engineering lifecycle: designing, ticketing, building, testing, deploying, and debugging tools and products
What You Will Bring
• Demonstrated experience in supporting ML model lifecycle management and/or building distributed ML pipelines
• Previous experience leading highly technical engineering teams (either as people manager or technical lead)
• Well versed with Python and Python libraries/frameworks​​
• Strong software design and implementation skills with a general-purpose programming language (e.g. Rust, Scala, C++/C#, Java, Haskell, etc)
• Experience in building distributed microservices in a cloud environment, working with large scale databases such as Cassandra, Redis or other caching systems, and ensuring that the system is able to serve data at very high levels of throughput with millisecond level latencies
• Previous experience with deploying and maintaining advanced real-time scoring ML models in production (e.g. PyTorch, Tensorflow, Triton Inference Server)
• Strong functional programming development skills
• Passion for leveraging technology to solve problems and maximize productivity
• Ability to execute ideas and influence decision making in a clear and effective manner
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment
