PRIMARY PURPOSE:

MGM Resorts International has embarked on a multi-year journey in a 1:1 personalization initiative to redefine the casino resort, hospitality, and entertainment experience for guests. The Senior Data Scientist is an exciting opportunity and seasoned data science individual contribute to the personalization initiatives. This hands-on individual contributor will develop and evolve AI/ML models, and their orchestrations. It resides in the MGMs Commercial Strategy & Consumer Engagement group, and reports to the Director of Data Science and Commercial Analytics. The role collaborates with the Commercial Strategy, Customer Engagement, Marketing, Creative, Product, and Engineering teams. The position is responsible for all hands-on data science contributions such as data munging and normalization, feature engineering, modeling, hyper-parameter tuning, deployment, experimental design, test execution, and measurement.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Independently contribute to multiple complex Data Science projects with minimal supervision

Perform hands-on tasks of a seasoned SME of AI/ML model development and implementation

Make significant enhancement to the personalization and commercial strategies by adding Data Science and analytic models

Collaborates with other data scientists and recognized subject matter experts in developing and deploying models.

Collaborates with analysts and engineers to specify data requirements. Performs data collection, mining, pre-processing, normalization, and feature engineering.

Develops predictive and statistical models. Hyper-parameter-tunes, scales, and deploys models. Orchestrates next best actions, maintains Data Science CI/CD framework, and improves decision support systems. Executes processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance

Peer-reviews code, writes unit tests, and provides feedback on data pipeline and modeling approaches.

Develops company A/B test framework, evaluates model quality, conducts test/learn experiments, tests hypotheses, and iteratively improves data science models to optimize corporate KPIs

Creates audience appropriate documents and presentations with insights, results, and recommendations; and presents those to business partners/stakeholders and non-technical audiences

Perform other job-related duties as requested.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, operations research, economics, or STEM related fields; or equivalent experience.
• 5 + years of prior relevant experience.

PREFERRED:
• Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, operations research, economics, or STEM related fields.
• Proven experience balancing quality of output with short timelines such as developing minimum viable product.
• Experience in agile-sprint-based approach.
• Experience in hospitality, retail, or customer-service oriented industry.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• Gaming license(s) in applicable jurisdictions

JOB SUMMARY

Battelle’s National Security Business Unit is seeking Geospatial Researcher/Data Scientists to support research and development activities. This position(s) is remote, but supports client activities located at the Army Geospatial Center (AGC) Army Engineer Research Development Center’s (ERDC) Geospatial Research Laboratory (GRL) in Ft. Background

Position supports geospatial research projects involving remote sensing and terrain analysis combined with knowledge and understanding of the interactions of flora & fauna, soil, water, air, and man-made infrastructure across all global biomes, including artic, tropical, xeric and urban ecosystems. Candidate will perform research, develop, and test advanced terrain analysis tools to support a range of military and civilian applications, including detection, monitoring and mitigating environmental, ecosystem, and social impacts from climate change across the DoD mission space. Activities performed support ongoing 6.2/6.3 DoD research projects with applied research/advanced technology development in geographic information science (GIS), remote sensing (RS), advanced geospatial analytics, including machine-learning, and operational tool development.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Review literature to identify appropriate methods to solve a problem, then implement those methods.
• Extract and organize data from existing databases and data files, often at significantly varying scales.
• Develop software tools using statistical, machine learning capabilities.
• Critically evaluate data for quality measures such as completeness, accuracy, and applicability, applying understanding of relevant research area nomenclature
• Communicate technical results in a clear, concise, and effective manner with emphasis on data visualization techniques.
• Maintain excellent communication and interact with both co-located and geographically diverse team members.
• Analyze and interpret data collected and author various reports or sections of reports/presentations.

THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED
• A multi-disciplinary background in earth systems science. Candidates must demonstrate an understanding of earth systems commensurate with their graduate degree and experience. Desired areas of expertise include:

• Advanced capabilities in the acquisition and processing of remotely sensed/geospatial data.
• Strong geospatial data analysis skills. 10+ years of experience executing advanced GIS and RS research and development, including acquisition, processing, and analysis of both passive (multispectral and hyperspectral imaging) and active (lidar, radar) remotely sensed data from both commercial and government-owned 2D and 3D sensor systems to support multidisciplinary investigations.
• Current knowledge of archived, active, and future remotely sensed platforms and sensors, including terrestrial, near-surface, airborne and satellite systems.
• Advanced experience with ESRI and ENVI software, including Python development for ArcGIS Pro and ENVI+IDL COTS software environments.
• Coding/programming and data visualization experience, skills, and capability to develop automated and semi-automated data processing algorithms/workflows using open-source coding (eg, Python, R, IDL, C+).
• Record of reporting (publications), and excellent communication skills, including delivering presentations that describe complex, multi-disciplinary research results.
• Ability to obtain and retain TS/SCI security clearance
• Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years’ experience, or MS degree 5+ yrs., or PhD and meet one of the following requirements:
• A degree in Statistics, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, or similar field
• A degree in Geography, Geoscience, Geo-statistics, or similar field
• Post-doctoral investigators should also demonstrate experience with research project development (ie, successful proposals) as well as leading multi-disciplinary investigations.

JOB SUMMARY

Battelle’s National Security Business Unit is seeking Geospatial Researcher/Data Scientists to support research and development activities. This position(s) is remote, but supports client activities located at the Army Geospatial Center (AGC) Army Engineer Research Development Center’s (ERDC) Geospatial Research Laboratory (GRL) in Ft. Belvoir, VA. A full benefits package including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, 401k, pension plan, and tuition reimbursement is available. GRL conducts geospatial research, development, test, and evaluation of current and emerging geospatial technologies that will help characterize and measure phenomena within the physical (terrain) and social (cultural) environments encountered by the U.S. Army. GRL engages in research to support the development of the Army Geospatial Enterprise, as well as develop geospatially enabled technologies for Joint, other Services and Functional Combatant Command (COCOM) supported programs. Background

Position supports geospatial research projects involving remote sensing and terrain analysis combined with knowledge and understanding of the interactions of flora & fauna, soil, water, air, and man-made infrastructure across all global biomes, including artic, tropical, xeric and urban ecosystems. Candidate will perform research, develop, and test advanced terrain analysis tools to support a range of military and civilian applications, including detection, monitoring and mitigating environmental, ecosystem, and social impacts from climate change across the DoD mission space. Activities performed support ongoing 6.2/6.3 DoD research projects with applied research/advanced technology development in geographic information science (GIS), remote sensing (RS), advanced geospatial analytics, including machine-learning, and operational tool development.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Review literature to identify appropriate methods to solve a problem, then implement those methods.
• Extract and organize data from existing databases and data files, often at significantly varying scales.
• Develop software tools using statistical, machine learning capabilities.
• Critically evaluate data for quality measures such as completeness, accuracy, and applicability, applying understanding of relevant research area nomenclature
• Communicate technical results in a clear, concise, and effective manner with emphasis on data visualization techniques.
• Maintain excellent communication and interact with both co-located and geographically diverse team members.
• Analyze and interpret data collected and author various reports or sections of reports/presentations.
• Contribute to technical reports and presentations, describing results with tables, graphs, and software tools.
• Implement methodologies for solving problems.

THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED
• A multi-disciplinary background in earth systems science. Candidates must demonstrate an understanding of earth systems commensurate with their graduate degree and experience. Desired areas of expertise include:
• Forest Science
• Ecology
• Physical Geography
• Environmental Conservation
• Natural Resource Science and Management
• Advanced capabilities in the acquisition and processing of remotely sensed/geospatial data.
• Strong geospatial data analysis skills. 10+ years of experience executing advanced GIS and RS research and development, including acquisition, processing, and analysis of both passive (multispectral and hyperspectral imaging) and active (lidar, radar) remotely sensed data from both commercial and government-owned 2D and 3D sensor systems to support multidisciplinary investigations.
• Current knowledge of archived, active, and future remotely sensed platforms and sensors, including terrestrial, near-surface, airborne and satellite systems.
• Advanced experience with ESRI and ENVI software, including Python development for ArcGIS Pro and ENVI+IDL COTS software environments.
• Coding/programming and data visualization experience, skills, and capability to develop automated and semi-automated data processing algorithms/workflows using open-source coding (eg, Python, R, IDL, C+).
• Record of reporting (publications), and excellent communication skills, including delivering presentations that describe complex, multi-disciplinary research results.
• Ability to obtain and retain TS/SCI security clearance
• Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years’ experience, or MS degree 5+ yrs., or PhD and meet one of the following requirements:
• A degree in Statistics, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, or similar field
• A degree in Geography, Geoscience, Geo-statistics, or similar field
• Post-doctoral investigators should also demonstrate experience with research project development (ie, successful proposals) as well as leading multi-disciplinary investigations.
