Job Summary

Under general direction, formulates and defines the scope and objectives for new or existing applications or programs requiring custom development. Typically carries out assignments with minimal direction from a project manager or programming development manager. Works with stakeholders to gather requirements for developmental programs. Translates specifications into business cases, models, and ultimately into designs and actual programming code. Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems and works at a high technical level in all phases of application development and programming activities. Works as part of a team with varying responsibilities for completion of an entire project or a phase of a project. Participates in component design, programming, code reviews, and unit testing. Designs and develops technology and models for development projects as assigned. Performs code testing on components and works to ensure appropriate implementation standards are met. Evaluates design alternatives for development cost and solutions using various methods. Typically works with business analysts, project managers, and end-users to ensure that delivery expectations are met. Provides support and maintenance for existing applications and participates in production support during business hours and pre-launch hours. Resolves customer complaints and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements from end-users. Demonstrates programs. Provides appropriate written documentation of project development and programming code.

• Technical lead on projects to design, develop, and QA Data Warehouse (DW) and extract/transform/load (ETL) environments, and other database environments to enable analytics. Following prescribed project and development methodology under the direction of a Project Manager, works closely with the BI Lead, DW developers, source application developers, and subject matter experts (SMEs). Support, maintain, and enhance these environments to achieve a cross-functional, integrated reporting and analysis environment for University users.
• Works closely with business analysts and subject matter experts to understand data analysis requirements, data definitions, and develops data mappings, data rules, and data transformations for reporting related to a particular data warehouse and/or analytic subject area.
• Finalizes the conceptual data models developed by the BI Lead, most often a dimensional model with facts and dimensions. Documents and communicates model design to project team. Leads development of logical data models. Documents, communicates, and maintains model design for the project team. Leads design and implementation of physical databases including index definitions, partitioning, parallelism, tuning, and space management. Utilizes database design and documentation tools to document, analyze, and communicate database information. Designs DW security. Implements test and QA strategies and prepares for rollout, including assuring data validation and integrity. Coordinates development resources to ensure that project timelines are met.
• Leads the design of ETL processing modules based on transformation rules, mapping rules, processing requirements and database model. Leads the design of ETL auditing steps to ensure data integrity and completeness of the ETL process. Leads the design of ETL process flow including module dependencies and parallel processing opportunities. Provides documentation for and works with job scheduling team to automate ETL processing. Leads the design of programming specifications for each ETL component.
• Leads the design of testing plans for each phase of the development process. Plans must ensure accuracy and quality of program code as well as thorough data validation procedures. Develops efficient code that meets analysis and design criteria. Coordinates ETL development resources to ensure that project timelines are met.
• Supports and maintains analytic systems and related architecture.
• Provides break-fix support and communicates outages as defined by IT Services standards. Troubleshoots and tunes DW and analytic systems. Coordinates testing of software patches and upgrades.
• Works closely with BIS colleagues to implement DW best practices, supporting integration of information from different subject areas. Promulgates DW, ETL and related development standards, processes, and best practices throughout BIS. Participates in the selection of DW, ETL and related enabling tools, including software and consulting.
• Leads technology proof of concepts to ensure the feasibility of architecture solutions.
• Prototypes new technology solutions and executes proof of technologies.
• Researches and analyzes problems to determine alternative solutions and creates action steps to solve the problem.
• Researches, evaluates and recommends new technologies for data management, storage, and analytics.
• Leads tools/software patching/security patching work to make sure it is up to date with the latest patches/versions.
• Provides guidance, training, and education to team members, including duties of instructing, directing, and checking the work of others.
• Lead administrator of Hadoop and Oracle Data Integrator.
• Continuously improves efficiency and effectiveness of the architecture.
• Defines data architecture standards, policies, and procedures for the organization, structure, and attributes and apply accepted data content standards to technology projects.
• Ensure adherence to data architectural guidelines, principles, and standards in all project milestones and deliverables.
• Leads requirements analysis, translating requirements into a scope document and developing reporting deliverables based on the design.
• Provides expertise in planning, testing, and roll-out of patches and upgrades to the BI and analytic software. Solves complex problems in the development and interpretation of BI and analytics system standards and procedures.
• Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

Job Description Summary

Job Description

Act as the Data Architect to ensure the delivery of all commitments on time and in high quality.

Manage the data model and schema

Work closely with product and engineering teams to provide evaluation and recommendations of design patterns and solutions for data platforms with a focus on Graph based CDP, ETL and Lambda architectures

Provide technical inputs to agile processes, such as epic, story, and task definition to resolve issues and remove barriers throughout the lifecycle of client engagements

Work with the Marcel’s data, product and engineering teams to deliver on all requests pertaining to Data, Features, Graph Schema, Feeds and Integrations, Data Science Models and other data management related requirements.

Collaborate with feature teams to ensure features are delivered successfully end to end, ensuring all data lifecycle events are managed correctly and that SLAs are implemented as required.

Be responsible for driving the Data and Engineering team to deliver a feature requirement from inception to production.

The key accountabilities for this role are, but not limited to;

Ensure the data models of the Marcel program are managed efficiently and that model enhancements are in alignment with the data modelling principles, standards and meta data practices

Ensure that all data lifecycle events are efficiently managed by the Marcel platform, aligning technology and feature teams accordingly.

Ensure that data quality is maintained in production through measurement and operationally supported

Work closely with feature teams to ensure that all analytics, data and architectures are in alignment with the Data Strategy.

Act as a point of sor on all data related features of Marcel and where relevant drive enhancements from concept through to production delivery.

Coaching and mentor others on best practices, data principles, performance.

Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.

Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.

Create data tools for analytics and data scientist team members that assist them in building and optimizing our product into an innovative industry leader.

Responsible for leading the team of data engineers to build data pipelines using a combination of Azure Data Factory and Databricks
