ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Machine Vision Engineer on the Software Controls Team at Bright Machines, you will be one of the key hands-on contributors to inventing, testing and hardening algorithms and software that differentiate Bright Machines from its competitors and enable software defined manufacturing.

You will help validate and improve novel solutions to unsolved problems in industrial automation. You will function as an engineer touching every part of the electro-mechanical system and help to map out the path to improving our technologies. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
• Design, develop, execute, test and improve state-of-the-art machine vision applications
• Work with other team members to evaluate technical feasibility, design strategies, and prototype new technologies
• Work in a modified agile environment to deliver high quality results against aggressive schedules
• Help define and implement standards and promote best practices

WHAT WE WANT TO SEE
• BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Computer, or Industrial Engineering
• 2-4 years of industry experience
• Deep understanding of camera technologies
• Applied understanding of lens technologies and strategies
• Pragmatic understanding of illumination technologies and strategies
• Ability to create a scene that maximizes the contrast of targeted features
• Experience with 2D vision algorithms and geometric processing

IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAD
• Vision systems for robust industrial automation equipment
• Experience with 3D vision algorithms and geometric processing
• Machine learning using CNNs for machine/computer vision for classification
• Industry experience working with robotic systems
• Experience with vision guided robotics by transformations or real-time offsets
• Experience programming robots, e.g. Kuka, Fanuc, UR, etc.

Manager, Analog Mixed Signal IC Integration, Reality Labs at Meta

Summary:

Our silicon team is pushing the state-of-the-art with breakthrough work in computer vision, machine learning, mixed reality, graphics, power delivery, interconnect, displays, sensors, and new ways to map the human body. We work across the entire stack of system design, from transistors, architectures, firmware, and algorithms. Our chips will enable AR and VR devices to mix and match the real world with the virtual worlds throughout the day. As a key technical lead in the analog mixed signal group at Meta, you will work with a world-class group of engineers creating high-performance and low-power custom designs for our AR/VR chips. Special focus areas will include breakthrough displays, sensors, interconnects and power. You will lead a small team of top digital design, AMS verification and firmware engineers, work with AMS designers and system engineers to define, develop and productize next generation custom AMS solutions that offer the best-in-class power efficiency, performance and form factor. We value excellent communication skills and strong cross-functional teamwork.

Required Skills:

Manager, Analog Mixed Signal IC Integration, Reality Labs Responsibilities:
• Lead a small team of digital design, AMS verification and firmware engineers.
• Create high-performance and area/power efficient custom designs for Meta’s leading-edge AR chips.
• Shape design and verification methodology and flows to improve execution quality and efficiency.
• Work with external vendors as well as internal design teams for all phases of Si development.
• Translate product concept and design requirements into uArchitecture documents and RTL design, while conducting power, area and performance tradeoffs.
• Develop and review test plans, test benches and verification methodologies to validate analog circuit behavior along with digital components at chip level.
• Third party IP evaluation and integration.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams to develop post-Si validation plan and execute the validation plan.
• Support device integration and system-level validation from IC perspective.
• Ability to communicate clearly.
• Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time.

Minimum Qualifications:

• B.S. Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience in Silicon design from specification to design flow and methodology.
• 2+ years of people management experience.
• Expert digital designer.
• In-depth knowledge in digital ASIC architecture and uArchitecture.
• Solid experience in system Verilog UVM DV.
• Experience being a self-motivated and team player.
• Program management skills.

Software Engineer, Systems Specialist Responsibilities:
• Roadmapping, designing and developing a graphics prototype based on Linux and Windows host software emulation
• Accelerate the AR product organization’s development velocity by enabling re-use of graphics software from prototype to custom silicon platforms
• Accelerating AR computer vision and custom sensor development
• Analyze, design, develop, and debug firmware and system software for a wide variety of AR and VR consumer devices, including novel sensing and imaging systems, haptic devices, and audio prototypes
• Understand and implement power-management, boot loaders, scheduling, and RTOS based solutions
• Collaborate in a team environment across multiple product focused, research, and engineering disciplines, making the architectural tradeoffs required to rapidly deliver firmware solutions
• Support all phases of SoC/ASIC development including early architecture requirements definition for custom silicon, firmware architecture, implementation, simulation, FPGA debug, chip bring up and support systems and software teams on algorithm development on validated systems

• Experience working with hardware and setting up and configuring non-form factor development boards with exposed electronic components
• Understanding embedded systems and hardware
• Experience with developing Linux or Windows drivers
• Experience in system design, communication, and code review
• Experience with producing high quality code with test coverage, using modern abstractions and frameworks
• Experience with performance analysis system level optimization
• Experience with cross multi-disciplinary boundaries to drive system solutions
• 6+ years experience delivering performant solutions for resource/memory constrained devices or systems
• B.S./M.S. degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
• 6+ years of experience creating PC applications that interface with hardware systems or standalone PC application on Linux and Windows
• Experience with software design and programming in C, C++ or Python, Rust
• 2+ years of experience with any of the following: real-time low-latency sensor processing, Linux and Windows kernel-level and user space device drivers, ARM based processors and microcontrollers and various communications protocols such as I2C, UART, SPI, USB, MIPI, I2S, et. or GPU-based development and optimization techniques

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with EDA design tools and instruction set simulators
• Experience in Rust, Open GL, Open CL, Cuda
• Experience with protocol implementations such as USB device classes (UVC, UAC, HID)
• Experience with peripherals such as USB, SPI, MIPI CSI/DSI, I2C, UART, GPIO etc.
• Experience with FPGA and vendor specific hardware evaluation boards
• Experience with graphics or computer vision algorithm development
• Experience with embedded DSP and CPU architectures
