Primary Responsibilities:
• Design, code, test, document, and maintain high-quality and scalable Big Data, Cloud solutions
• Design, develop and implement analytics rules engines

Required Qualifications:

• 8+ years of hands-on Software Development experience

Role

Splunk is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer in Test – to support and test the next generation of Splunk Platform. You will be responsible for testing various components and services of Splunk for both on-premise and Splunk Cloud Offerings. You will work closely with the Engineering and Product team to develop, script, and execute sophisticated tests to verify conformance of Data platform features and their functionality implemented by Engineering against required functional specifications laid out by Product Management. You have an opportunity to innovate the testing methodologies in big data technique with industrial expertise. We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic and focused individuals who have a real passion for quality engineering and have strong knowledge of product quality standards, automation and processes.

Responsibilities
• Drives Cloud and Enterprise software testing strategy to deliver in a continuous delivery model.
• Drives technology direction and delivery.
• Works with the Engineering and Product Management teams to develop, automate, and execute tests against required specifications.
• Collaborates with external and internal teams and it’s the heart of what makes Splunk a phenomenal place to work at.
• Communicate with senior leadership and architects on testing and quality strategic plans.
• Participates in high profile and critical customer engagements and escalations as needed.
• Incorporates customer use cases, issues, telemetry data back into testing to enhance the overall product quality.
• Identifies testing and process gaps and implements solutions to achieve efficiencies across the organizational boundaries.
• Mentors SDET engineers on best practices and technology direction.
• Helps build the talent pool in the organization with hiring.
• Promotes Splunk innovations at meetups, recruiting events, and conferences.
Requirements
• Experience in one of the following programming language Python, Go (preferred), Java, Ruby, Perl, or C++.
• SCM experience using Git solutions, Bitbucket, GitHub, or GitLab.
• Passionate about quality engineering
• Experience in setting up and working on distributed systems and solutions like AWS Cloud, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure.
• Good SAAS background with an understanding of API & microservices testing.
• Experience building test automation framework or infrastructure. using one of the following Pytest (preferred), Selenium WebDriver, or any Go testing framework (e.g. Ginkgo).
• Good understanding in DevOps and CI/CD related technologies Kubernetes, Docker, and any container orchestration system/solution.
• Effective communicator who can be the technical spokesperson for his Team/Area in broader architecture and technology discussion.
• Lead test design and test code reviews regularly, and participate in test framework architecture discussions, as well as product design discussions
• Mentor junior team members and involve in hiring critical talent for the team
Education
• BS EE or CS degree; 8+ years related experience (or Masters and 6+ years related experience or Ph.D. and 3 years’ experience) or equivalent.

Cloud Data Engineer III at BankUnited

SUMMARY: The Cloud Data Engineer III position is a technical leadership role that provides a unique opportunity to create innovations and transformational change leveraging cloud and big data technologies. The position will provide architecture, design, development project management, and people leadership. The candidate will work with data stored in the Bank’s Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud (as well as others) and will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers the organization’s cloud-based applications and services. This individual will work with a variety of data sources, including relational databases, NoSQL databases, and data warehouses, using a variety of tools and technologies to process and analyze data, including EMR, DMS, Redshift, S3, Glue, Athena, among others. He/she will work in a team environment, collaborating with other engineers, data scientists, and business analysts to design and build data-driven solutions. He/she will also work with software developers to integrate data-driven features into the company’s applications and services. The ideal candidate will be an experienced data engineer with exposure to data wrangling practices and concepts who enjoys optimizing data systems and building them from the ground up. They must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems, and products. The candidate will have extensive previous experience with data engineering teams and be excited by the prospect of optimizing or even re-designing, our company’s data engineering architecture to support our next generation of products and data initiatives. The candidate should also be comfortable with leading and designing projects initiatives that have both direct customer impact and backend impact for other Bank teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.
• Collaborate with the Business Consumer product team and architecture group to help establish the customer data strategy
• Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture
• Focus on test driven design and results for repeatable and maintainable processes and tools
• Work with product and enterprise teams via both Agile and Waterfall Methodologies
• Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical expertise towards teams optimizing ETL/ELT processes and developing data solutions and platforms to solve complex scenarios in an agile manner
• Build cross-functional relationships with Data Scientists, Product Managers, and Software Engineers to understand data needs and deliver on those needs
• Drive the design, building, and launching of new data models and data pipelines in production
• Manage the development of data resources and support new product launches
• Drive architectural design patterns that focus on data security, data operational excellence, and optimization of data systems performance & cost efficiency
• Craft and maintain efficient data pipeline architecture
• Identify, craft, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
• Design, build, and maintain the infrastructure required for efficient extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS ‘big data’ technologies
• Work with technical and non-technical stakeholders to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs
• Work with the team to strive for clean and meaningful data, and greater functionality and flexibility within the team’s data systems
• Maintain current knowledge of cloud trends & developments and act as an advisor to the Bank in reference to its cloud strategies
• Contribute to the development of cloud standards, best practices and organizational cloud capability
• Assist in recruitment efforts to attract high quality and diverse talent
• Adheres to and complies with applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.).
• Adheres to Bank policies and procedures and completes required training.
• Identifies and reports suspicious activity.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degreein IT, engineering, etc or equivalent job experience required

Experience
• 5+ years of experience in a data engineering role
• Experience guiding a team of data engineers through project planning, execution, and quality control stages
• Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
• Experience building data pipelines, architectures, and data sets from raw, loosely structured data
• Experience building processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management
• Data Engineering experience using the following software/tools:
• Proficiency with database platforms like Oracle, SQL, Postgres and MySQL
• Proficiency with cloud Data Warehouse platforms such as Redshift and Snowflake
• Proficiency with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, etc
• Experience with big data tools: Snowflake, Hadoop, Spark, etc
• Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools: Informatica, Airflow, etc
