Required Qualifications:

The Role

The Solution Architect will be leading technical thought leadership and delivery excellence related activities at strategic accounts. The ideal candidate has expert level knowledge and experience in designing, migrating, and implementing complex hosting solutions and migrations. The position is customer facing and will work closely with Product Owners, Applications Owners, Network and Security team to deliver the best solution for large scale infrastructure design and application migrations. Candidates should possess expert knowledge in public and hybrid cloud models. The engineer needs to have the ability to provide insight into the workloads and their dependencies to map out the best strategy to migrate workloads to Azure. This will include determining the ideal groups of applications and defining a roadmap to move to the cloud.

• Contribute to and support execution of client engagements
• Work with staffing and recruiting to build high-performance delivery teams for your clients
• Identify account risks and develop/implement remediation plans
• Deploy highly available, scalable and secure cloud infrastructure with a focus on Azure using industry best practices
• Deploy networking solutions by using the Azure Portal and other methods, including PowerShell, Azure Command-Line Interface (CLI)
• Provide technical aspects of solution proposals, SOW, and estimation
• Define and implement infrastructure migration methodologies and techniques to migrate workloads into Azure
• Design and develop automation to support continuous delivery and continuous integration process
• Work closely with the Development and Operations teams to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support automated deployment of infrastructure
• Lead Cloud enablement team

• Expert Azure Cloud infrastructure experience (Azure Infrastructure as Code), Bicep
• Clear and expert understanding of routing and route tables as it relates to Azure
• Experienced in Azure governance, Express Route, S2S VPN devices, Site Recovery, Azure Monitor, RBAC, virtual network and subscription peering
• Azure networking: Hub and spoke, Virtual WAN, SD-WAN
• Experienced in Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
• DevOps: Azure DevOps, CI/CD, Pipelines, Branching, Merges, Approval gates
• IAM – users/groups/service accounts and their differences
• Azure Virtual Machines & Azure Foundations
• Experienced in M365/Intune
• Networking and VPCs, concepts of public vs. private IPs
• Security, ACLs, Azure firewalls
• Exceptional documentation and diagramming skills
• Automation; VM setup/teardown, scripting, platform tools (Azure Resource Manager), exposure to 3rd party tool like Terraform or Cloud Foundry useful
• Logging and monitoring of cloud deployments

• Work directly with customers and cross functional teams to achieve business outcomes using VMware’s Multi-Cloud services
• Partner with presales teams to ensure our proposed solutions will meet or exceed customer needs while aligning to validated reference architectures
• Assist in the ongoing development of reference architectures that can be adapted to meet the needs of our customer’s unique environment
• Advise customers on workload migrations strategies including the optimal migration tool and methodology considering workload profiles and underlying network infrastructure
• Advise customers on cloud security strategies and best practices to harden against penetration and data breaches
• Validate architectures to ensure they are highly available by meeting or exceeding disaster recovery RPO and RTO requirements
• Deliver on-site and remote workshops, create, and publish customer facing reference content based on agreed architectures, migration strategy, resiliency and security plans
